Phillies Players Jorge Alfaro and Rhys Hoskins
Jorge Alfaro and Rhys Hoskins
Jorge Alfaro, 23, is widely considered to be the Philadelphia Phillies’ catcher of the future. He's an athletic talent with huge upside. He could be an All-Star if he pulls everything together. In 2013, Alfaro plated for the Texas Rangers as a free agent and in the same year played in the Arizona Fall League. Aldaro would stay with the Rangers until he was traded in 2015 to the Phillies. He was then promoted to the major leagues in August of 2016. Starting this year Alfaro is playing for the IronPigs and is hitting extremely well this season.
Another future player is Rhys Hoskins, who was drafted by the Phillies in the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft. For his first professional season, he played for the Williamsport Crosscutters. In 2015 Hoskins would start with the Lakewood BlueClaws and then was promoted to the Clearwater Threshers. Hoskins played for the Reading Fightin Phils in 2016. This year, he started out with the IronPigs and is the best hitter on the team and it has been quite a season for him. Hoskins is consistent with not just his power hitting but for being a “hitter’s hitter” - a guy who controls the strike zone with very few holes.
Both are playing extremely well at Triple A this season. We’re just going to have to wait and see when the Phillies decide to move these two great prospects up to play.
