The Dallas Mavericks were founded in 1980 and currently play at the American Airlines Center, holding up to 19,200 people for home games. Despite making the playoffs throughout the 1980s, the team struggled throughout the 1990s and entered a rebuild before seeing success again. This all changed in 1998 when the Mavericks acquired Dirk Nowitzki, who would go on to lead the Mavericks to a Championship in 2011.
