In 2008, the Phillies hadn't won a World Series since 1980, and the city of Philadelphia had been championship-starved since 1983. In the Fall of that year, the Phillies finally ended the long drought after defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in five games. Brad Lidge, concluding his perfect season as closer, finished off Tampa Bay in the bottom of the ninth and celebrated with catcher Carlos Ruiz on the mound in this now-iconic image.
